2017 King & Queen Show the biggest yet

With the entry of King contestants and skills in costume making growing within the region, 2017 saw the biggest most spectacular King & Queen show for EMCCAN yet.

Hosted at Nottingham Playhouse, the event kicked off with the show-stopping ‘Carnival Clash’, an energetic performance produced and choreographed by De-Napoli Clarke with support from Arts Council England’s ‘Grants for The Arts’ programme. De-Napoli worked with troupes and young people from the East Midlands carnivals to create the show and the script was brought to life with poetry and drama from Myrle Roach (aka Miss Nan).

After an exciting start, the competition in the second half had a lot to live up to but it certainly didn’t disappoint. Four King’s competed for the first ever EMCCAN Regional King crown and eight dazzling Queen’s followed competing for the prestigious regional and city titles. The quality of every contestant was tremendous and every single one of them did their city and region proud.

It is with pleasure that we announce the city and regional King’s and Queen’s for 2017, congratulations to you all…
